Vivekanandan (35) is the son of Kesavan and Padmavathi couple from Ganesh Nagar in Karamadai near Coimbatore. He was working in a private software company in Saravanampatti. He is said to have been depressed for a few days as a promotion that he was supposed to get was delayed.
Under the circumstances, on September 19, Vivekanandan returned home and retired to his room. As he did not come out of his room for a long time the next morning, his parents checked the room. They were shocked to see him hanging from the fan in his room. Following this, they lodged a complaint at the Karamadai police station. The police arrived and recovered Vivekanandan's body and sent it for autopsy. His body was handed over to his relatives after an autopsy.
The incident where a young man committed suicide by hanging himself due to delayed promotion has caused shock and grief to many.
