Coimbatore: Waterfalls around Coimbatore including Kovai Kutralam are flooded due to heavy rains.
Heavy rains lashed the Kovai Kutralam and Thondamuthur areas of Coimbatore for more than a week. During the last three days, rains lashed the forest areas of Coimbatore including Kovai Kutralam, Siruvani and Poondi.

As a result, Kovai Kutralam, Sadiyaru, Kalkothi Pathi and Poondi waterfalls are flooded. The ban on going to the waterfall is in force due to the spread of coronavirus infection.

Meanwhile, a large landslide occurred on the way to Kovai Kutralam Falls. Forest department said that the landslide will be rectified soon if and when the rain relents.
Due to the increase in rainfall in the Chinnaru and Periyar river area, water level in Noyyal has also increased. It is to be noted that Ukkulam, Ganganarayana Samudram and Chottaiyandi ponds overflowed due to the heavy rains in Western Ghats last month.
