Coimbatore: Kovai Kulangal Pathukappu Amaippu has asked volunteers to write to them about unmaintained water bodies in their localities.
They said Coimbatore District has not only famous water bodies as Kurichi Pond, Singanallur Lake, Selva Chinthamani Pond, Periyakulam and Vellalore Pond, but also several unknown water bodies near us that we fail to maintain.
Kulangal Paathukaapu Amaippu Manikandan said if we had maintained these ponds may not have become dumpyards and real estate plots but they would have served as water sources for farming and helped us with eradicating water shortage issues.

He said, "Water bodies such as lakes, pools and ponds in our neighborhoods and towns are inadequately maintained. Many of us don't even know their names. So if there is an unmaintained water body like a pond or canal in your area, be it village or town, you can WhatsApp its location link and its. You can also send us an e-mail with details like photo, panchayat, village name, area, etc. This will facilitate the collection data about water bodies in the respective areas and the revival and maintenance of them. We are also requesting information from the Corporation and the Public Works Department on water bodies in Coimbatore. All the relevant data is then sent to Google Maps Update."
He added, "We will then visit the water bodies ponds directly with the details sent by you to assess and facilitate rehabilitation. We want to revive water bodies in Coimbatore and make the land fertile."
