Coimbatore: Coimbatore, Nilgiris and neighbouring Kerala brace for a fresh spell of monsoon rains
Coimbatore: A fresh spell of monsoon rains is set to visit parts of of Tamil Nadu including Coimbatore and the Nilgiris and the state of Kerala as widespread showers have been forecast over the region for the next few days.
Valparai region in Coimbatore, where all the dams are almost full, will experience heavy to very heavy rains.
The meteorological department said a two-day heavy rainfall warning has been issued for Nilgiris district on September 20-21, while thunderstorms with lightning are likely to occur at isolated places in Tamil Nadu. The Western Ghat belts in The Nilgiris such as Pandalur, Gudalur, Kundah, Devala, Avalanche, Upper Bhavani and Mukurthy can report very heavy rainfall.
The Periyar belt in Theni and the district of Kanyakumari are also expected to receive fairly heavy monsoon showers.
As massive bands keep coming one after another into Kerala and the weather to be likely the same over the next three days, almost the whole state is in for heavy rainfall with ghat areas such as Idukki, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam. Pathanamthitta, and Malappuram bracing for very heavy rains.
Kerala is heading towards the wettest ever September.
