Coimbatore: COVID-19: TN posts 5,569 new cases, 5,556 discharges and 66 deaths
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Saturday logged 5,569 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 66 related deaths, taking the total number of infections to 5,36,477 and the state toll to 8,751, according to the State Health Department media bulletin.
The day also saw 5,556 patients getting discharged after recovery from various hospitals across the State.
Of the new cases reported today, 987 were from State Capital Chennai.
As of September 17, cumulatively 5,36,477 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 8,751 deaths and 4,81,273 discharges, the Health Department said in its bulletin.
Among the districts where a higher number of cases were reported, Coimbatore accounted for 562, Chengalpattu 293, Thiruvallur 282, Salem 286 and Cuddalore 289.
Tirupur logged 163 cases and the Nilgiris 87.
According to the bulletin, the number of active cases stood at 46,453.
A total of 63,88,583 samples have been tested till date of which a whopping 85,117 were tested over the last 24 hours.
