Coimbatore: Government of Tamil Nadu should pay special attention to control COVID-19 in Coimbatore and Tirupur - MP PR Natarajan

Coimbatore: MP PR Natarajan said Government of Tamil Nadu should pay special attention to control coronavirus infection in Coimbatore and Tirupur.

In a statement released by MP PR Natarajan, he said coronavirus infection has been on the rise in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts in recent days. He said the districts have several small scale businesses and as the migrant workers keep returning the infections are on the up. He also added that the increase in humidity has added to the increasing cases of common cold and flu.

He accused that the district administration and the health department have failed miserably in treating and maintaining health facilities for those infected with coronavirus and also that they have failed to control the spread of the disease. He also added that despite the government announcing that Tirupur District Government Medical College Hospital has been upgraded, it lacks basic facilities including adequate doctors and medical infrastructure and even toilets are damaged.

He pointed out that the World Health Organization emphasizes the importance of increasing the number of tests in controlling coronavirus infections. He said that in Tirupur district only 2500 tests are done per day and if 6000 tests are done they can diagnose and treat patients and the disease can be controlled. He also added that medical test results are announced within a few hours at private testing centers while the Government results are delayed by 2-3 days making the public depressed until they arrive.

He requested that the siddha and homeopathic COVID preventive medications must be distributed to all and that the Tamil Nadu Government should pay special attention in controlling the spread of the disease in Tirupur and Coimbatore.
