Coimbatore: A footage shows a man pinned to the ground and surrounded by a group of auto drivers, public and police outside the District Colectorate, after he allegedly tried to steal an omni van parked near railway station here on Friday evening.
Coimbatore: A footage shows a man pinned to the ground and surrounded by a group of auto drivers, public and police outside the District Colectorate, after he allegedly tried to steal an omni van parked near railway station here on Friday evening.
According to a taxi driver from railway station, in an attempt to steal, an unidentified man barged into an omni T-board van belonging to Chellappa, a taxi driver who had parked it in front of the taxi stand in Coimbatore railway station.
As he drove away with the taxi in lightning speed, a dozen of taxi and auto drivers chased him, who fled towards the District Collectorate, he told.

Heating the crowd scream, the alert police on duty in front of the District Collectorate which is few meters from the railway station, stopped the man and caught him.
Upon, investigation the man revealed that his name is Isaki from Annur and had planned to steal the car, due to his poor economic situation.

He along with the owner of the taxi was later taken to Race Course police station for investigation. The incident caused a stir in the area for a brief time.
