Lone elephant movement near Marappalam, Cooonoor - Motorists asked to exercise caution

Wild elephant movement has been on the rise on Coonoor-Mettupalayam Road in recent times.



A lone elephant which strayed away from its herd entered the Marappalam road on Thursday evening. Seeing this, motorists parked their vehicles on the roadside and waited in their vehicles in fear. Some people there took pictures of the animal on their mobile phones.

The Coonoor Forest Department is constantly monitoring the movement of elephants. After wandering around for a while, the elephant went back to the nearby forest. Therefore, the forest department has appealed to motorists traveling on this road to drive with caution.
