Coimbatore: A North Indian woman in Coimbatore who was grievously injured in a fire accident while cooking on August 1 and undergoing treatment succumbed to her injuries yesterday.

Manisha and Geeta from Gujarat sell toys near Rajalakshmi mills on Trichy Road, Coimbatore. On August 1, turpentine oil spilled on the floor and on Geeta's clothes. Without noticing the spill, Geeta started cooking and her dress caught fire due to the presence of inflammable turpentine oil.
She was greivously injured and taken to a private hospital for treatment. However, there was no improvement in her health following which she was taken to Coimbatore Government Hospital yesterday for treatment. Doctors examined Geeta and declared her as dead on arrival.
Singanallur police have registered a case and are investigating.
