Coimbatore: Youngster interrogated by police near Annur for sexually abusing a minor girl by threatening her with a video



Coimbatore: A youngster who had been for sexually abusing a 17 year old girl by threatening her with a video led to the suicide of the girl. The man is being interrogated by the police now.

The 17-year-old girl is the daughter of a couple that works as daily wage labourers from Vadakkalur area near Annur in Coimbatore district. She was studying in class 12 at a high school near Annur. On the 10th of this month, the girl committed suicide by drinking cow dung powder while no one was at home. The reason behind the death was said to be the parents restricting her excessive use of mobile phone. A case was registered at the Annur police station based on this and the body of the girl was handed over to her parents after autopsy.

In a sudden twist, the girl's parents and relatives lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police on the 14th saying Gowtham, the son of Sampath Kumar, who lived near their house, took pictures while the girl was bathing. He threatened to share the video with friends and on social media and sexually abused the girl. It is said that Gowtham, who is also addicted to drugs has similarly videotaped several women and intimidated and sexually abused them. The parents and relativesdemanded that appropriate action be taken against him.

The girl's relatives said Gowtham is related to the girl as a brother. They also released a recording of his conversation with his friends about the girl. Following this, the Annur police have taken Gowtham for an investigation.
