Coimbatore: Police arrest four including couple for attempted murder in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Coimbatore police arrested four persons including couple for attempted murder in Coimbatore.
Joy (A) George Kanmani Noel lives in 9th Street, Tatabad, Coimbatore and has been doing interior decoration. On the night of the 14th, he collected 2 lakh rupees from Kavita and her husband Madhan Prabhu from Vilankurichi at the RS Puram area after which the three of them were sitting in Joy's car and chatting. Suddenly, a few youngsters with knives attacked Joy following which Joy opened the door on the other side of the car and fell down.
The youngsters continued to attack him and stabbed him several times. As the public gathered hearing Joy's screams, the youngsters escaped in their two wheelers. RS Puram police filed a case and were investigating using CCTV footage. Joy is receiving treatment following the incident.
As part of the investigation the police questioned Joy, who said apart from working as an interior designer, he is also a financier and that he had lent Kavita and Madhan Prabhu money. On the basis of Kavita's recommendation, he has loaned 23 lakhs to her friend Pradeep Raja from Gnanampady near Sulur.
Joy visited Kavita's home on the 15th of August and demanded to pay the money that was lent to Pradeep Raja with full interest. Kavita asked time until September 14 and when Joy arrived at RS Puram to get the money, he received 2 lakhs from Kavita and Madanprabhu and was talking to them in his car. Suddenly, unidentified men hiding at the back of the car attacked Joy and stabbed him several times.
Kavita and Madan Prabhu rescued Joy who was stabbed in various parts of the body and admitted him at a private hospital for treatment. Joy, who was being treated at the hospital, said in the police interrogation that he could identify those who attacked him. Investigation revealed that the couple, Kavita and Madanprabhu, was the mastermind behind the incident and that it was Kavita's friend Pradeep Raja from Gnanampady who tried to kill Joy and the person who helped him was his friend Surya from the same area.
Following this, the police arrested the four, registered a case against them, produced them before a judge and remanded them into custody. The incident has shocked many.
