Coimbatore: Two arrested including a college student for snatching gold chain from woman in Pollachi.
Mahalakshmi (35) lives in Pattanam near Pollachi. She works as an office assistant at the Highways Department office in Pollachi. On the 15th, when Mahalakshmi was traveling in her two-wheeler from the Thamarai Kulam to Pattanam, two young men on a two-wheeler snatched a 3-sovereign gold chain from Mahalakshmi's neck.
Mahalakshmi lodged a complaint with the Kinathukadavu police. When the police were conducting a vehicle inspection yesterday, they stopped two youth who came in a two-wheeler, as they seemed suspicious. Upon further investigation by the police it was revealed that they were the ones who snatched a gold chain from Mahalakshmi.
One of the suspects was identified as Prasanth, 18, of Sundarapuram, Coimbatore, a 2nd year college student and the other was identified as Nagarjunan (25).
Police arrested the two and recovered a 3 sovereign chain from them. Police also confiscated the vehicle used for chain-snatching.
