Coimbatore: BJP State Vice President Annamalai has said that actor Suriya's statement about NEET is like crossing the Lakshman Rekha.
PM Modi's birthday was celebrated on behalf of the BJP at Sungam, Coimbatore.
The BJP State Vice President Annamalai who took part in the celebration planted saplings and distributed welfare packages.
Following this he spoke to the press and said, "PM Modi's birthday is being celebrated with enthusiasm all over TN. Celebrations are taking place in all the five zones. The AIADMK- BJP alliance is intact in TN. There might be a difference among the parties in the alliance regarding the trilingual policy, but BJP is clear about it. All the states have started adopting the NEP. CM's opinion regarding continuation of bilingual language policy is his own. The signature campaign that is being undertaken by the BJP has clearly shown that the people of TN are in favour of trilingual policy."
He added, "Periyar is an unavoidable leader in TN and even though we don't agree to many of his policies, there are a few policies that we accept. We acknowledged that he worked relentlessly for the people. Learning three languages will increase the knowledge of the students. The DMK has double standards regarding Hindi issue."
Talking about NEET, he said, "It is unfortunate that students committed suicide due to the fear of NEET. There is a false perception about NEET and politicians are making this a political issue. Actor Suriya is a good human and a good actor. His statement regarding NEET is like crossing the Lakshman Rekha. Suriya's questions will be answered when the result of the 2020 NEET exams are published and Suirya will change his stand. The internal reservation of 7.5% for Government School students is something to be welcomed. Posting derogatory remarks on social media must be avoided."
