Coimbatore: A 20 year old man has been arrested for luring a 13 year old girl with promises of marriage, in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore:A 20 year old man has been arrested for luring a 13 year old girl with promises of marriage, in Coimbatore.
Following the sudden disappearance of the 13 year old class 9 student from the Ramanathapuram area, her parents lodged a complaint at the Ramanathapuram Police Station. Based on the complaint, the police were on the lookout for the girl.
On tracking the cellphone signal of the girl, it was identified that she was in the Tirupur region. Following this the police went there and during investigation it was revealed that the girl had been lured by Prasanth (20) of the Nilgiris district and that he had promised marriage to the girl.
Following this, the police rescued the girl and handed her over to her parents. Further investigations revealed that Prasanth of Gudalur, Nilgiris works at a knitting company in Tirupur and had met the girl during a wedding. He had also promised to marry the girl and had taken her to Tirupur.
The police registered a case on Prasanth under POCSO and imprisoned him.
