Coimbatore: COVID-19: TN logs 5,768 recoveries, 5,652 new cases and 57 deaths
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Tuesday reported 5,768new cases of COVID-19 and 57 related fatalities, taking the total number of infections to 5,19,860 and the death toll to 8,559 according to the State Health Department media bulletin.
The day also saw 5,768 patients getting discharged after recovery.
Of the fresh cases reported today, 983 cases were from State Capital Chennai.
As of September 16, cumulatively 5,19,860 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 8,559 deaths and 4,64,668 discharges, the Health Department said in its bulletin.
Among the districts where a higher number of cases were reported, Coimbatore accounted for 549, Chengalpattu 319, Thiruvallur 282, Salem 280 and Cuddalore 263.
Tirupur logged 149 cases and the Nilgiris 72.
According to the bulletin, the number of active cases stood at 46,633.
A total of 61,33,399 samples have been obtained for testing so far, of which 84,567 were tested over the last 24 hours.
