Coimbatore: The widening of the service roads to the Kavundampalayam overbridge, that is under construction, is expected to commence soon, informed officials.

Overbridge construction in the Kavundampalayam area on the Coimbatore-Mettupalayam road is under. The stretch of 6,000 meters from Housing Unit to Ramasamy Kalyana Mandapam with 29 pillars is under construction and similarly, the 670 meter long stretch with 15 pillars is also underway at the G.N.Mill area. The work commenced in March 2019.
Various measures are being taken to accelerate the completion of the bridge such as reducing the traffic congestion in the area.
Speaking about this, a Highways Department official said, "In order to accelerate the completion of the Kavundampalayam overbridge work the service roads on the sides are to be widened. By doing this, traffic congestion in the area can be reduced substantially. Further, consultations are being held with the government officials to only permit the movement of cars, two wheelers and ambulances in this way and prevent the movement of heavy duty vehicles on this road."
