Coimbatore: Five Kerala men were arrested for swindling a huge sum of money from a Pollachi resort owner. Several weapons including country-made pistols were confiscated from the gang.

Muthu (67), a resort owner from Ganapathipalayam near Pollachi, withdrew Rs 1 crore, 72 lakh, 50 thousand from a bank locker on September 2 and gave it to Anoop Kumar, a friend of his, to deposit it in another bank locker in Kozhinjamparai, Kerala, but Anoop Kumar absconded with the money. Muthu lodged a complaint at the Anamalai police station on September 4. Police have registered a case and were searching for Anoop Kumar and his friend Sathish,

Meanwhile, a special team of police arrested Manoj, Simpson, Sashikanth, Sathish and Bilal who were part of the scam at a farm in the Semmanampathy area on the Kerala state border last night. They also seized two-made country guns and five lakh rupees in cash. The police will be imprisoning the gang at Pollachi Sub-Jail after producing them at Pollachi Judicial Magistrate Court I. The Special team of police are also looking for Anoop Kumar, who is the criminal mastermind in the case.
