Coimbatore: People at Pongaliyur near pollachi file petition requesting basic ameneties at their area
Coimbatore: People from the Pongaliyur area near Pollachi filed a petition at the Kottur Town Panchayat Office yesterday demanding basic amenities.
No action has been taken on the petitions the public filed at the Town Panchayat office on several occasions requesting basic amenities including street lights, roads, drinking water and toilets for the the public living near the Pongaliyur New Colony Madurai Veeran Temple.
In this context, the petition was handed over at the Kottur Town Panchayat office by the public in the presence of Kottur Party Secretary Ravichandran, headed by Yuvaraj, the DMK in-charge of the Anaimalai East Union.
There are 15 wards in Pongaliyur New Colony. The people here have lived in Natham Poramboke lands. In March 2019, the government issued free land pattas but so far no house tax receipts have been provided by the Town Panchayat.
Further, no action has been taken far on the many petitions for the basic facilities. Therefore, this time around, the Town Panchayat administration should properly inspect the area and provide the amenities, the petition said.
