Coimbatore: Mother-daughter duo files petition with the District Collector alleging land grabbing and death threats
Coimbatore: A mother-daughter duo lodged a complaint with the District Collector alleging that a person named Manal Arumugachamy cheated them of 3 cents of land in Coimbatore and is making death threats.
Punitha, a resident of New Siddhapudur, Coimbatore, came with her daughter Mahalakshmi and filed a complaint with the district collector today. They alleged that their father-in-law had sold 3 cents of their land without their knowledge to Manal Arumugasamy in 2004. When appealed in court, their lawyer had acted in favor of Manal Arumugasamy making them lose the case.
Punitha then met Manal Arumugasami in person for justice, but he refused to respond to her pleas. When she decided to appeal in court, he strong-armed them with goondas and also threatened to kill them. She also added that no action was taken even after a police complaint. She said in her complaint that their lives are endangered due to the threats and if anything untoward happens to them, Manal Arumugasami should be held responsible. The petition requested for appropriate action in this regard.
