The northeast monsoon is likely to begin around the months October/November timeframe. Dengue becomes usually rampant during this period, but at present the officials are focusing on coronavirus prevention as a result of which dengue has not been given that much of an importance.

More than 10 people were diagnosed with dengue two months ago and admitted to the government hospital. Following this, the health department carried out dengue prevention activities. With the imminent northeast monsoon, top officials have instructed Health Department personnel to intensify dengue prevention activities along with those of coronavirus.

Health department officials said that the government has instructed to intensify dengue prevention activities along with coronavirus prevention measures in Coimbatore district. He said people with flu symptoms could not only have COVID-19 but also dengue. He added that dengue eradication activities have been intensified in various areas including public spots, government offices and parks. They added that people need to make sure that water does not stagnate around the house, terrace, and the surroundings. They also said that water tanks, drinking water cans, etc. should be cleaned frequently, covered and used properly.
