Coimbatore: Police rescued an old lady who slipped into a canal and sent her to hospital for treatment. As there was intermittent showers in the city for the past few days, the old lady slipped into a canal near KG Chavady.

Police patrol led by Inspector Ratheesh was patrolling the area around Ettimadai and Navakkarai when they heard a moaning noise coming from a canal on the side of the road between KG Chavady and Navakkarai on the Palakkad Highway. They found an old woman and rescued her from the canal, gave her change of clothes, bought tea and food and enquired her.

She did not know her address and had no for support. She said that she had fallen into a ditch the night before and had been struggled for his life in the pouring rain all night unable to get up. The old lady was rushed to the Coimbatore Government Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
The timely intervention and keen patrolling of the policemen on duty was appreciated much by the public
