Coimbatore: While NEET is set to take place tomorrow, TMMK and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi staged protests against it.
Apprehension about the NEET has led to the suicide of Ariyalur student Anitha, Vignesh, Madurai Jothi Sree, Trichy Subha Sree, Coimbatore Subha Sree and Tirupur Rithi Sree. While the political parties in TN have been expressing their opposition for conducting NEET, another suicide has taken place.
Jothi Sree, daughter of a sub inspector residing in the Armed Forces Quarters in Thallakulam, Madurai left an emotional note and hung to death. The girl had obtained low marks in the NEET exams last year and was preparing to appear for the NEET exams this year. However, due to the lockdown she had to attend online classes. In the death note, she said that she did not understand the online lessons, was worried that she might fail the exams this year too and decided to end her life.
Meanwhile the TMMK and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi cadres staged a protest in front of the Post office near the District Collectorate demanding the cancellation of NEET.

Slogans against the Central BJP Government were raised during the protests.

Speaking to the press The State Treasurer Umar said, "In spite of the late former CM Jayalalitha's stand that NEET will not be allowed in Tamil Nadu and the present TN government's same stand, the Central Government is going ahead with the exam tomorrow. IN the name of NEET exams students are being killed. The Central Government must cancel NEET immediately and it should not take place in TN tomorrow."
