COVID-19: Tamil Nadu reports 6,227 recoveries to 5,495 new cases

Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Saturday reported a surge of 5,495 cases and 76 related fatalities, taking the total number of cases to 4,91,571 and death tally to 8,307 the State Health Department said.

Out of the new cases reported today, 978 were from State Capital Chennai.

As of September 12 evening, cumulatively 4,97,066 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 8,307 deaths and 4,41,649 discharges including the 6,227 recoveries today, the Health Department said in its bulletin.

A total of 58,03,778 samples have been tested so far, out of which 88,562 were tested today alone.

Including the 428 cases today, Coimbatore has an overall case tally of 21,665.

While Tirupur logged a whopping cases, The Nilgiris posted 61.
