Three fined Rs 25,000 each for hunting Sambar deer with snares near Coonoor

The Nilgiris: The Forest Department on Friday fined three people ₹ 25,000 each and 75,000 in toto for poaching Sambar deer with snares on a private estate in the Coonoor Forest Reserve.


The Nilgiris: The Forest Department on Friday fined three people ₹ 25,000 each and 75,000 in toto for poaching Sambar deer with snares on a private estate in the Coonoor Forest Reserve.

Coonoor Wildlife Officer Sasikumar was informed that Sambar deer had been hunted down on a private estate that falls under the Coonoor Wildlife Sanctuary.



Following this, the forest officials bookedManikandan 28, son of Maruthan from Mooparkadu tribal village, Vignesh 22, son of Krishnan, and Raju 48, son of Subramani.

A case was jointly registered against the trio for hunting deer and they were fined ₹ 25,000 each.
