With the spread of COVID-19 increasing all over the world, the Coimbatore Corporation has been undertaking various measures to prevent its spread. Municipal Administrative Commissioner Dr.K. Bhaskaran held a review meeting to assess and analyse these measures.
The review meeting analysed the preventive measures being undertaken to stop the spread of COVID-19 in all the five zones of the Coimbatore Corporation. A review of the medical camps being held in all the zones, treatment being offered to the affected patients at the GH, ESI hospital, CODISSIA and other private hospitals, prevention measures to stop the spread of COVID-19 and process of identifying the infection were discussed.
Further, the meeting discussed the COVID care centres that have been set up at marriage halls as contingencies in case hospitals run out of space. The number of beds, sanitation, drinking water, electricity and toilet facilities at these centres were reviewed. ready. The work of doctors, nurses and lab technicians at triage centres were analysed. General Health Division Officials were asked to identify and test patients with diabetes and BP at these centers. Areas with more number of COVID cases were asked to host more number of special medical camps. The operation of ambulances that take COVID-19 positives to hospitals was also discussed.

Analysis of door to door data collected regarding aged people, heart patients, people with kidney ailments and diabetes was conducted and the details of those with fever and cough symptoms were also discussed. It was scrutinised whether the field workers are visiting areas where people live in close proximity and if proper information is collected from the public in these areas.
Field workers were asked to ensure that those with positive results are being transported to the hospitals immediately through ambulance. They were advised to declare areas with infections as containment zones and erect barricades in the area.
It was further advised that teams must be formed and monitored to ensure that disinfectants are sprayed in the containment zones and arrange for volunteers to supply essentials for the people living there. Further, it was advised to ensure that the families of COVID-19 patients are also tested for COVID-19 and create enough awareness among the public regarding COVD-19 through autos and small vehicles via PA systems.
Other than this, it was advised that the public must be informed to observe social distancing at all places including shops, businesses, private industries, restaurants, bakeries and medical shops and to wear face masks. Violators should be imposed fines. Placards containing this information must be placed in all businesses and the public must be made aware.
Medical camps were advised to be conducted and those with fever, cough, cold and breathing difficulties were to be identified immediately and tested for COVID-19. All the other family members were advised to be provided with vitamin tablets and Kabasura Kudineer.
Food provided to COVID-19 patients at hospitals and the treatment methods were also reviewed. Dr. K. Bhaskaran also informed that the Corporation workers must wear face masks, gloves and maintain social distancing when they are involved in frontline work.
Prior to this, he inspected the COVID-19 Control Room in the Corporation Main office. He reviewed whether the calls received at the control room are being answered promptly, the people's doubts are cleared correctly and they are being registered properly.
