Coimbatore: Two men who were involved in various crimes were arrested by a special police team. Investigations revealed one of them is a literature graduate and former teacher!
In October last year, unidentified men broke into a locked house at the GN Mill area in Coimbatore and stole 15 sovereigns of gold. Similarly, in January and February, they broke open closed houses in Kavundampalayam and Thadagam and looted them.
Since no information regarding the criminals in the above cases were obtained, under the orders of the District Superintendent Arularasu, a special team was formed to nab them.
Intense search for the criminals by the Special team led to clues at various crime scenes. The information of criminals who had been imprisoned for various crimes were collected. Based on this, old criminals Manoj from Salem district and Nandi (a) Nandakumar from Karur were found to be associated with the robberies.
Following this, the Special team was on the lookout for the criminals in various areas. Under the circumstances, the criminal duo were arrested in a chain snatching case at Edayarpalayam and were taken to a secret location for investigation. During the investigation, they confessed that they looted a lot of places.
One of the arrested criminals Manoj is a BA Literature graduate. Trained as a teacher, he used to take tuitions for school children. In 2015, he began to get involved in criminal activities and has nine cases against him in Coimbatore,Karur, Namakkal and Salem.
There are many criminal cases in Coimbatore District against the two arrested men. They were involved in the 150 sovereign robbery that was committed in Salem district in 2015; 42 sovereigns were retrieved from them and they were presented before a judge and imprisoned.
The special team is also on the lookout for other people in the angle that more people could have been part of the crimes.
The Coimbatore District Superintendent appreciated the Special Police Team for nabbing the criminals who had been involved in various thefts.
