Tirupur: Demolition of old buildings in the Tirupur GH is carried out in full swing to make way for the construction of the new Medical College in the campus.
A new Medical College has been proposed to be set up at a cost of Rs.336.96 crores within the campus of the Tirupur District GH, on the Tirupur-Dharapuram road, over an area of 11.28 acres. Funds to the tune of Rs.195 crores have been allocated for this on behalf of the Central Government and Rs.141.96 crores have been allocated by the State government. Presently, the work for this has been accelerated.
Amid this, COVID-19 patients are being treated in the special wards that have been set up in the various buildings within the GH. Since the medical college construction work is speeding up currently, the hospital management has been taking necessary action to hand over the buildings to the PWD.
Due to this, the patients being treated in these buildings that are to be handed over, were transferred to wards that are situated in other areas.
Construction of new buildings and demolition of the old buildings are underway in a full swing.
