Coimbatore: The District Collector has informed that no fraud has been committed in the distribution of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore:The District Collector has informed that no fraud has been committed in thedistribution of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in Coimbatore.
The District Collector K. Rajamani further informed, "543 ineligible beneficiaries were identified in the district and Rs.19.12 lakhs has been retrieved from them."
Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, each year 12 crore farmers are provided financial assistance of Rs.6,000 in three installments. Lakhs of farmers had signed up for this scheme in TN.
Complaints were received that people who were not farmers had applied for the benefits under this scheme in Villupuram, Kallakurichi and other districts. Following this, the Agriculture and Revenue departments conducted reviews and identified that a scam of Rs.120 crore had taken place all over TN.
Following this, bank accounts of fake beneficiaries who availed the benefit were disbaled. Action is being taken to retrieve the money from these accounts.
A review was conducted in Coimbatore district to identify if any such frauds have taken place to avail the farmers benefits by eligible persons. 543 ineligible beneficiaries who have received financial assistance have been identified in this review.
Informing this, the District Collector K. Rajamani said, "Under this scheme, 2105 farmers have been receiving financial assistance. Their bank accounts have been deposited with Rs.4,000. In the review conducted by the officials, 543 ineligible people have been identified. People such as lawyers, people's representatives, doctors and those paying income tax, even if they are farmers, are ineligible to avail financial assistance under this scheme. Rs.19.12 lakhs has been retrieved from them.
Another Rs.3 lakhs is being retrieved. Other than this, 207 people who own agricultural lands in Coimbatore have been credited money into their bank accounts in other districts. The respective District Collectors have been notified and advised to collect the money lakhs from them. No fraud, similar to the one that happened in other districts has been committed in Coimbatore."
