Coimbatore: In Pollachi and surrounding areas, other than coconut, groundnut, maize and other rainfed crops are being cultivated. Farmers harvested groundnuts in areas near Pollachi, including Puravipalayam, Anaimalai, Angalakurichi, NM Sungam and Thuraiyur.

As there has been continuous rains in the evenings for the last three days in areas near Pollachi, Anaimalai and the surrounding areas, farmers are once again plouhing the land with bullocks to cultivate rainfed crops including groundnut and maize.

Many farmers in the Anamalai area cultivate groundnut and last time due to damage by wild boars and untimely rains, the yield was affected and caused a loss. Since it has been raining in the evening in the surrounding areas of Anamalai for a few days, ploughing is being carried out to plant seeds. Farmers believe that they would get a good harvest as there is enough rain.
