Coimbatore: A newlywed man committed suicide in depression after being seprated from his wife just 3 days after marriage. Govindaraj (28) from Chenannur next to Perur. He runs his own welding workshop. Govindaraj has been in love with Manjula (20), a third year undergraduate from the same area, for the past four months.

The couple got married on September 4th despite the opposition of their parents. The two were living together for three days. Later Manjula's parents went to the All Women's Police Station to register a complaint. The police called the couple for investigation and Manjula's parents coerced their daughter to return home. Following this, Manjula changed her mind and gave in writing that she did not want to live with her husband and left with her parents.

It is said that Manjula's parents verbally abused Govindaraj who was already in depression as his wife left. This led to Govindaraj hanging himself to death this morning. Upon information, the Perur police registered a case and recovered his body and sent it to Coimbatore GH for an autopsy.

Govindaraj's relatives staged a road roko in front of the Collector's Office saying that they would not receive his body until a case is registered against Manjula's parents.

The police reached the spot and held peace talks with those involved in the road roko and instructed them to disperse. There was a stir in the area as relatives refused to receive the body of the deceased. Govindarajan's parents said they would not receive the body until they get justice for their son's death.
