Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Wednesday recorded a whopping 6,516 recoveries to 5,584 new cases.


Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu on Wednesday recorded a whopping 6,516 recoveries to 5,584 new cases.

The Coronavirus graph of the state continued its progression on a steep incline and reached 4,80,524 today as 5,584 cases were added anew.

State's latest health bulletin said 6,516 patients had recovered in the last 24 hours while 78 more succumbed to the pandemic in the State.

As a result of this, the number of active cases in the state came down below the 50,000 mark to 49,203 and 8,090 died.

Adding 993 cases in 24 hours, State Capital Chennai crossed the 1,44,000 mark and stood at 1,44,595.

Coimbatore, whose gross number of cases reached 20,393 including 445 new, recorded the second highest number of cases in the State next to Chennai.

Coimbatore's neighbouring districts of Tirupur and The Nilgiris logged 120 and 69 fresh cases, respectively.
