Minister SP Velumani distributes Best Teacher Awards to teachers in Coimbatore district

Coimbatore Minister SP Velumani distributed Best Teacher Awards 13 teachers from the distrct at Coimbatore Collectorate.

He presented the Dr. Radhakrishnan Award, certificates of appreciation and cash of R. 10,000 each to 13 teachers selected for the award.



He also presented certificates to the Principal and 2 teachers of the District Teacher Training Institute, Coimbatore, who excelled in uploading textbooks on the internet for the new curriculum of the State Institute of Educational Research and Training.

Minister SP Velumani then laid the foundation stone and participated in the bhoomi puja for the Madukkarai Panchayat Union office building to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.87 crore. He distributed packages of immunization tablets to the public in the Madukkarai area. Speaking on the occasion, he said, the public should immediately go to a government hospital and seek treatment if they have flu symptoms. He also advised them to use the medical camps conducted in various areas by the Coimbatore Corporation.

He said the increase in the number of cases was due to people who came in from other districts. He said that the number of cases in Coimbatore district would hopefully go down in two weeks. The minister said that 9000 beds are ready to treat the infected and that quality treatment and nutritious food is being provided to COVID-19 patients.



The Minister then flagged off 12 new ambulances for public use and distributed caste certificates to some members of the Ezhava and Thiyya communities as the state government has listed them as backward classes.

Following this, the Minister attended a review meeting on coronavirus infection prevention measures held at the Coimbatore District Collectorate. Coimbatore District Collector Rajamani, Commissioner of Police Sumith Sharan and Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Kumaravel Pandian were also present.
