Valparai Forest Ranger Jayachandran Manikandan and Forester Muniandi rushed to the spot and took possession the body of the wild elephant. A team led by veterinarian Dr. Sukumar conducted an autopsy. The main body parts of the elephant were sent to the forest laboratory. The dead elephant was said to be between 30 and 35 years old.

The body of the dead elephant was later buried there after the autopsy. The forest department is investigating the death of the elephant. People in the area said that yesterday afternoon there was a fight between wild elephants in the Waterfall Idaisolai area, They claimed having seen an elephant that walked into the forest with blood in its trunk and near the ivory.
