BJP State Vice President Kanagasabapathi allegedly nominated as Coimbatore Bharathiar University Syndicate member
Coimbatore:
BJP State Vice President is alleged to have been nominated as Coimbatore Bharathiar University Syndicate member. The Syndicate is set up to manage the functioning of Coimbatore Bharathiar University. Apart from those from the Bharathiar University, two outsiders will be appointed as members. Their term of office will be up to three years.
At present, Kanakasabapathy, BJP state vice-president from Coimbatore is said to have been nominated for the post by Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal as the tenure of previously appointed member expires. It is said that there is nothing legally wrong in appointing BJP State Vice President as a Syndicate member
Few teachers opined that since he was the member last time too, it was fair to give someone else a chance. They also pointed that the last time he did not possess any party membership, but now he is the BJP's State Vice-President which has caused some dissatisfaction amongst University members.
Prof. Kanakasabapathy said, "I have published many research articles as an academic. I have been in education for over 15 years. Governor's appointment has nothing to do with the party. Even during the last tenure, I have honestly done the tasks given to me. In the Syndicate, nobody voiced against me. I will do the tasks given to me effectively and honestly. I haven't recommended anyone misusing my administrative powers".
