Number of recoveries in Tamil Nadu overshoots the case count by over 150!

Meanwhile the number of discharged cases remained on the high side with the number of recoveries overshooting the new cases. A total of 5,930 people were cured and discharged from the state hospitals today. This has taken the tally of cured patients in the state to 4,10,116. There are 51,215 active cases in the state.

A total of 89 people succumbed to the infection over the last 24 hours, which has taken the toll to 7,925.

The state has traced and tested a whopping 52,04,757 primary and secondary contacts since the onset of the pandemic including the 78,526 tested today.

At 949 cases, the State Capital Chennai continues to report below 1,000 cases a day for days in a row now.

At 524 and 194, the Western districts of Coimbatore and Tirupur logged alarmingly high single-day jumps while their mountain counterpart Nilgiris posted a relatively low number of 36 new cases today.
