Migration of numerous butterflies from the mountains has begun due to the monsoon rains, particularly in Mettupalayam, forest areas of Kallar, Odanthurai and Kotagiri and Ooty roads.
Migration of butterflies usually indicates the time before the monsoons or after the monsoons. Currently, due to the good monsoon rains, butterflies have been migrating in large numbers.
"The multi-coloured butterflies that move around in large numbers delight the viewers and change their location depending on the climatic condition of the place,"say nature enthusiasts.
Farmers state, "Butterflies are an integral part of nature and when they migrate at the right time, we have a balance. The foundation for pollination and other such natural processes in farms happens with butterfly migration."
