Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner holds Smart City project review meeting

Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer P. Kumaravel Pandian chaired a review meeting on Smart City project work undertaken by the Coimbatore Corporation.

Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer P. Kumaravel Pandian chaired a review meeting on Smart City project work undertaken by the Coimbatore Corporation.

The meeting was held at the main office of the Coimbatore Corporation along with the officials from concerned departments.



The various projects being undertaken under the Smart city projects scheme include laying of roads, bridges, construction of parks andunderground sewerage canals. Under this scheme model roads, parks for recreation, children's parks, playgrounds, streetlights and road side pathways are being constructed. The Ukkadam Periyakulam, Valan Kulam, Muthannan Kulam and other lakes within the Corporation limits are being renovated under the Smart City scheme.

Model roads that are being laid under this project are integrated with electricity and telecommunication lines running underground and modern streetlights on the sides of the sidewalks.



The Commissioner further reviewed the activities undertaken regarding the road facilities and the works underway on the banks of the Ukkadam Periyakulam, Valan Kulam, Selvachinthamani Kulam, Krishnampathy lake, Selvampathy lake, Kumarasamy lake, Singanallur lake and Kurichi lake. He also reviewed drinking water supply in the Coimbatore Corporation. The Commissioner then informed the concerned authorities to complete the pending tasks soon.

Corporation Deputy Commissioner S. Madhuranthagi, all Zonal Executive Engineers and Assistant Engineers took part in the meeting.
