Provide relief assistance to families of the deceased and injured in Chetti Veedhi building collapse - Singanallur MLA N. Karthik

Coimbatore: MLA N. Karthik said, the Government of Tamil Nadu should provide relief assistance to the families of those who died and were seriously injured in the collapse of houses due to heavy rains in the Chetti Veedhi area in Coimbatore last night.

On September 6th, a 3-storey building collapsed on Katteri Chettiar Street near Selva Chintamani Pond in Coimbatore. MLA N.Karthik offered his condolences to the deceased and said the news was very shocking.

Shweta (A) Shalini (24) and Gopal (75) died while Sarojini (65), Babu (34), Vanaja (65), Kavita (38), Tanveer (5) and Manoj Kumar (48) were rescued from the debris and admitted to hospital with injuries. Kasthuri (68) and Mani (38) are still trapped in the rubble.

DMK MLA N.Karthik alleged that the house collapsed due to the Smart City work carried in the Selva Chintamani Pond and said has the embankments been strengthened, the house would not have fell . He requested the Tamil Nadu Government to provide relief assistance to the families of the deceased and the injured. He offered condolences on behalf of the DMK party chief and District DMK party to the family of the deceased.
