Coimbatore: A controversial ironic banner accusing Coimbatore Corporation of falsely announcing a family as COVID positive has created stir in Coimbatore.
Father of a man from Coimbatore Hope College area is said to have died of COVID infection on August 25. Subsequently, all the five members of the family were subjected to COVID tests by the Coimbatore Corporation including the person concerned and his sister.
Four out of the five tested, wife, daughter, sister and niece of the man, turned positive for the dreaded virus and, as is the norm, tin sheets were erected in front of the house and it was declared as a containment zone. Meanwhile, yesterday the man and his family members underwent COVID tests at a private lab again the results of which were negative, the person said.

Following this, he placed a banner in front of his house that reads "Congratulations to Coimbatore Corporation for belittling us as COVID positives when we were in fact negative"
As the person puts it, "Following the death of my father, we underwent PCR tests conducted by the Corporation and were told that four of our family members have contracted the virus. Subsequently, we went to the ESI hospital where we were told that only those with serious COVID-related afflictions would be admitted there. We returned home and isolated ourselves. Since none of us displayed any symptoms whatsoever, we doubted if we were indeed positive, so we went to a private lab and got ourselves tested and found all of us were negative.Since we went through a lot of agony for the last four days due to the misinformation given by the Corporation, I put up a banner like this because of that."

Speaking about this a physician from the city said, "When asymptomatic carriers of coronavirus decide to retest themselves after four to five days, they usually test negative. Despite that, they have to isolate themselves."
