COVID-19 is on the up in the district of Coimbatore. The number of positives has touched almost 18,000. Of these, 80 per cent are in areas under the Coimbatore Corporation. Screening camps have therefore been intensified by the Corporation and tests have been geared up in isolated and densely populated areas.
People are complaining that the results of coronavirus tests conducted in areas under the Coimbatore Corporation are being delayed by 3 to 4 days. This has made them uncomfortable to even talk with their own family members out of fear. Also several people complained that private hospitals don't treat patients with flu symptoms until COVID-19 results arrive. The government has hence arranged for the results to be sent via SMS to the public.
