Coimbatore: BJP state vice president Vanathi Srinivasan said Rajinikanth should become an additional player in politics and only time will decide who becomes the captain.
BJP state vice president Vanathi Srinivasan met Tamil Nadu Ekathuva Jamath leader Ibrahim at the Makkal Sevai Maiam in Gandhipuram. She sought support for the yatra from Kanyakumari to Chennai to take the central government's plans to the people. In a meeting with the press after that, she said that Annamalai, the former IPS officer who joined the BJP recently has inspired youth.
She said Annamalai had not been given the post of additional vice-president in violation of party rules but rather has been appointed posting based on exceptions. Vanathi Srinivasan said that the party leader can decide on changing the rules of the party and there is nothing wrong with that. She said that the party has a history of appointing ministers who are not members of the BJP previously. Shealso pointed out that posts were given to Suresh Prabhu and Jaisankar right after joining the party. She added that the arrival of Annamalai was an added strength to the BJP and the party welcomed him with an open mind and said that he would be assigned tasks soon.
She said new members to the party will be given due recognition for their talents. She assured that there is no need for the seniors to panic when a new person comes along and that duties will be shared equally among all. She said changes to party policies and appointing vice-presidents to different posts are possible and only party members need to worry about that.
She added that none of the party members are worried about it and only the outsiders are too concerned. She said new players are needed in the political arena and they would welcome Rajinikanth as an additional player in politics and only time will decide who becomes the captain.
