Lots of tourists visit the Aliyar Dam Park and the places nearby in large numbers during the festival seasons.
Tourists have been banned from visiting places like Topslip for the past five months due to the Coronavirus lockdown and were disappointed as they could notenjoy the beauty of the Western Ghats post the southwest monsoon as the rains have made the forests green and lush. The Tamil Nadu government has relaxed the lockdown restrictions from September 1.
As a result, it has been reported that tourist sites including Topslip, Aliyar and Monkey Falls in Pollachi, Coimbatore district will be opened with restrictions in place.
Local tourists will be allowed to visit tourist destinations in Coimbatore district soon and tourists from other places will have to take E-passes. A special medical team has been set up at the Attakatti area.
Tourists going to Valparai will be subjected to thermal scanning. Revenue officials also said that hotels and resorts in areas including Valparai, Aliyar and Sethumadai would be allowed only for local tourists. The ban on tourist spots is still in place with no official announcement yet about lifting the restrictions.
