Coimbatore air cargo complex makes new history 72 tons of cargo lifted in passenger flight
Coimbatore: The air cargo complex at Coimbatore airport made new history by lifting 7.2 tonnes of cargo in a passenger flight
The integrated air cargo complex at Coimbatore International Airport provides services to various destinations both in the domestic sector and international sector.
Sources from the Airport sources said, "Usually only 3.5 to a maximum of 4 tonnes of cargo would be loaded in passenger flights since the available space is less when compared to 'all cargo' flights, but to all of our surprise, a new history was made on September 1 Tuesday night when an Indigo flight operated from Coimbatore to Delhi lifted 7.2 tonnes of cargo.
The flight departed Coimbatore at 9:30 p.m. and reached Delhi around 12:00 a.m. More than 100passengers were on board. Cargo bookings were made for lifting vegetables, auto parts, garmentsand various other products. At the end of the loading process, it was found that 7.2 tonnes of cargo had been loaded. This is the maximum for the Coimbatore Airport cargo complex. This was possible mainly due to a coordinated effort which has proved that even in passenger flights that have very little space, we can still accommodate many tonnes of cargos"
