Operation of ultra deluxe govt bus to commence shortly from Coimbatore to other districts. However, air conditions will not be allowed to used, District transport officials told.
Coimbatore: As announced earlier, District officials of State Transport Express Corporation
(SETC) are gearing up to commence inter-district operations of ultra deluxe buses without AC, from September 7. They also informed that people can book their tickets on www.TNSTC.in, shortly.
Ultra deluxe buses from Coimbatore tovarious places including Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Chennai, Pondicherry, Madurai, and Thoothukudi is all set to commence operation from September 7, onwards.
Following the announcement by the Tamil Nadu government that government buses will run from district to district from next September 7, the authorities here are planning to operate 50 per cent of the ultra deluxe government buses, without air condition.
Commenting on this, as senior SETC official from Coimbatore told that in that phase of operation, 50% of the ultra deluxe buses will be operated from Coimbatore to Tirunelveli, Chennai, Sengottai and Thoothukudi. None of these buses will use ACs and social distancing inside the buses will be ensured.
As Passengers on these express buses are required to travel for atleast 8 hours,we have altered the seating arrangements, such that there will be one vacant seat inbetween two other passengers.
"All passengers will be provided with masks, gloves, sanitisers and face masks. Drivers, conductors and passengers should sanitise their hands before entering the bus,” he said.
He added that booking is more likely to start from today.
