In a bid to reduce traffic snarls within the city limits of Coimbatore, police are undertaking various measures. Action is being taken on those who operate vehicles against the rules.
Coimbatore-Trichy road, Avinashi road, Mettupalayam road, and Siruvani road lie within the city limits. Heavy traffic is witnessed on these roads in the morning and evening causing trafffic congestion as a result of which many accidents occur.
In order to prevent and control such mishaps, heavy vehicles are banned from using these roads from 8 AM to 11 AM and from 4 PM to 8 PM.
Informing this, the Deputy Commissioner(Traffic) Mutharasu said, "Heavy vehicles including lorries are permitted to be on the city roads only at the allotted time.
