The Nilgiris: An elephant and a calf that wandered into the Hillgrove Railway Station damaged the boards and the passenger seats

Due to the COVID-19 situation the operation of the NMR train has been halted. As a result of this, grass has overgrown in the area and the rail track appears deserted. Hence elephants have started wandering freely here.

An elephant and its calf that wandered into the area in search of food and water damaged the railway station board and the cement seats placed for passengers.

Since trains service has been halted, the news regarding the damage was received by the Railway department very late. The tribals in the area informed that the elephants left the place after some time.
