The Nilgiris: Ooty Hindu Ilaingar Munnani has requested that students who have not paid their arrear exam fees should be promoted too.

Hindu Ilaingar Munnani District Organiser Hariharan sent a petition to the government. He said, "Considering the welfare of the students, the announcement by the government that all students, even those with arrears stand promoted, is appreciable. At the same time those students who could not apply for arrear exams due to non-payment of fees must also be declared promoted."

The petition added, "Students who enroll into colleges in the first year must be provided the option of paying their admission fees in easy installments. The examination charges for third year students and technical and medical students appearing for their final semester exams must be borne by the government."
