Heavy rains with thunder disrupt air traffic in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Inclement weather due to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning affected air traffic for some time in Coimbatore.
Fairly widespread rains with pronounced thunder and lightninglashed many parts of the district of Coimbatore including the urban and suburban areas for more than an hour. This inclement weather led to disruption of flight operations for quite some time at the Coimbatore International airport.
An Indigo flight from Bengaluru, which was about to land at Coimbatore airport was diverted back to Bengaluru due to the bad weather. Later, this flight again landed in Coimbatore at 7:37 pm and departed to Bengaluru at 8:00 pm.
Another Indigo flight from Chennai made many rounds in the Coimbatore airspace for long time before landing.
The flight operations returned to normalcy once the rains ceased.
