Public transportation across the country was suspended due to the coronavirus infection.The Tamil Nadu government has given permission to run buses only within the district from September 1.The government has also announced that buses will not run from one district to another.

Accordingly, 406 government buses are in operation in Coimbatore district today for public use.
An official of the Coimbatore State Transport Corporation said: “in the first phase, 50% government buses will be operated in Coimbatore for public use.That is, 406 buses will be operated.
Coimbatore Gandhipuram bus stand, Central bus stand, Singanallur bus stand, Ukkadam bus stand have been cleaned and disinfected and kept ready for public use.
Additional buses will be operated depending on the public demand, he said.
