All jewelleries and gold workshops will down shutters till September 7 - Coimbatore Jewellers' and Jewellery Manufacturers' Associations
Coimbatore: Coimbatore: Stating the steep hike in Covid-19' infections as the reason, Coimbatore Jewellers' and Jewellery Manufacturers Associations have announced all jewelleries and gold workshops will down their shutters for six days.
The Coimbatore Jewellers Association, president, B. Sabarinath in a press release said, "Due to rise in the number of positive cases in our city everyday and further discussions with the doctors, health officials and front line staffs, our association has decided to close all our jewellery stores till September 7 in order to break the chain of spread in our city."
Coimbatore Jewellery Manufacturers Association, President, B. Muthu Venkatram said in a press release , "Today there was a record high (589) of 'Covid-19' infections in Coimbatore. The spread is increasing day by day. After discussion with doctors and other front line staff, we request all our members to stall business movements and manufacturing activities till September 7. We also request the members to advise their staff and goldsmiths to stay safe. We request members to cooperate to break the chain spread of Covid-19 virus."
It is to be noted that the Chetty Street and Selvapuram areas became a major cluster in Coimbatore with over 12 cases reported from those areas earlier. Today too, the Selvapuram area has reported nearly 70 COVID-19 cases.
